My Goal Setting Plan That Increases My Income
As an Event Planner for 15 years, I believe planning is the foundation of
success. Without a plan, you wander
aimlessly hoping and wishing for something to happen. Failing to plan is planning to fail.
I know there are tons of books that teach goal setting, but
I finally found a process that works for me and I believe it can work for
anyone. To get started, ask yourself
these questions:
What do you want to accomplish this year?
Exactly how many people do you want to impact and inspire
this year?
Have you defined your mission statement? Everyone in business should have a mission
statement.
Next, write down your 3 income goals.
Write down an income goal that you believe you can achieve.
Next, write down an income goal that would really impress
you.
Finally, write down an income goal that would completely
blow your mind!
The 3rd goal must feel impossible! It is an annual goal that will completely
stretch your goals and your mind!
For each income goal, write down the activities you will
need to do daily and weekly to accomplish them.
With a marketing background, it is generally safe to stick
with the 1% rule. If you are going to
advertise your business on Facebook be sure to contact one of their marketing
specialists to customize an ad for your targeted demographics.
The ad will yield a return of 1%.
If 1,000
people see your ad, you may get 10 people to engage and from the 10 only 20% =
2 may consider your services or products.
This will give you a general idea of how many people you should target each
day to reach your minimums.
If you are in network marketing, you may need to figure out
exactly how many people you need to connect with to deliver your presentation to daily. The odds are 1 out of 10 may consider it
unless you’ve already achieved record-breaking success and 1 out of 5 may
consider it.
And then you want to reverse engineer what you need to reach
your income goals, if you want 10 hot leads in one week, you will want your
Facebook ad to attract 5,000x1%= 50x20% =10.
If you want 5 new people to be interested in your network
marketing business, you will want to do a presentation with 50 people since the
average is 1 out 10 will consider it.
The trick to my goal setting is taking time to reward
myself! I’m guilty of working and working
without ever taking time to realize how hard I’ve worked. Weekly, yes, every week I take a moment to
reward myself when I hit my weekly goal.
It can be something as simple as treating myself to a movie or a leisurely
moment at the bookstore with a cup of coffee (without thinking about
business). I turn it off for a second and
I call it “Me-Time.”
So, for my network marketing giants, let’s set a blow your
mind goal for the next 90 days! Here is an
example of my goal that is reverse engineered.
What is the dollar amount goal- $100,000
What is needed from your team in income or points —$50,000
84 minimum star packages = $50,400
I know my team will need to meet the 84 packs to hit the
volume benchmark. The best part about
network marketing is knowing that I’m not running alone to achieve this and I
can help others achieve it, too.
Reverse engineered with a team of 24. Out of 24 (80/20) will put in the work = 6
(including me)
84 packs/ 6 = 14 packs each person must meet in 90 days!
14/3 months (90 days) = 5 each month with 1 or 2 met each week (rounded up)
Do you see how much more feasible it is to accomplish your
goals with a team? In realistic terms of
the 80/20 rule, it still works out favorably!
I would love if all 24 would work that means each person would only need
to sell 3.5 packs but that’s not realistic.
We are in business and understanding your numbers and averages will get
you results not hoping and wishing! If
you want more done quicker, you will want to develop a much larger team.
I encourage you to take time to write down your goals and
write down your income goals. And
finally, reverse engineer your income goals to set specific targets. The specific targets will help you narrow down your daily focus.
As you see my goals are written in 90-day increments so
every 60 days, I revisit my goals and set the next 90 days. In a world filled with distractions, I would
say at the very least start off by blocking out your day with 2 hours of
activities that will help you reach your weekly target. Start planning and start doing the work! Wishing you a profitable year!
